Kaiteriteri Beach

Kaiteriteri is a stunning spot, with golden sand and crystal clear aquamarine water that shares the same coastal character as the Abel Tasman National Park right on its doorstep.

It's a popular holiday destination with plenty to keep you busy. You can hop on a boat and head into the Abel Tasman, rent a kayak or SUP and paddle out to Split Apple Rock, go sailing, take on the Mountain Bike Park, or explore some of the local walks like up to Kaka Point Reserve with its great views over the bay. If that all sounds like too much effort, there's nothing wrong with settling in at the beach with a cold drink while the kids do what kids do best.

The beach is great for swimming, though it's worth keeping an eye on the current near the right end of the beach where the estuary outlet is, particularly during an outgoing tide.

For accommodation, you have a few solid options: holiday homes, apartments, or the ever-popular seaside campground. Dining choices are fairly limited, but there are a couple of eateries around the beach along with The Views, a vegetarian restaurant, to keep you fed.

The beach is well set up with toilets, changing rooms and showers nearby. A small convenience store covers the basics for daily needs, but if you're planning to self-cater in any serious way, it's worth stocking up in Motueka before you arrive.

If your timing is right, there are events and festivals dotted throughout the year. The Kaiteriteri Beach Summer Concert is a firm local favourite, bringing live music and entertainment right to the beach.
